Ride Report – Ladies Ride to the River Palace in Northdene

Wow, what a day it was! We started out with 15 bikes and no pillions - this was the best attended ride since the first ladies overnighter was introduced. We had our briefing at 8am and welcomed our newest riders and members - Tara, Chanel, Michelle as well as guests - Zanda & Melinda!

The weather was a bit chilly on arrival but heated up quickly as we went along. We do have the best weather in SA.
As we left BP for the N1 and R21, we noticed that one of our new members had never ridden on a highway or exceeded 90km p/h and only obtained her bike a few days before – we had a challenge on hands but we never back off a challenge!
Thank you Zanda for showing her the ropes and getting her going with confidence. Sorry Elmarie for not being able to join the rest of the trip after a malfunction was detected on her bike which was caused by her heated grips (no one can ride without heated grips and a stuck throttle). She returned and had it fixed by Bavarian in a jiffy!

Our first pitstop was Balfour (we arrived at 10am) where we had coffee and hot chocolate with awesome fresh scones (this, ladies and gentlemen, we had at the local gym -Roid Rage). Sune spotted some oil leaking out of her bike's steering column.

We continued to Deneysville and stopped on the bridge to have the best photo taken by Hanlie and to admire the beauty of the Vaal dam wall. When the last ladies arrived we had a 5 min break and got going again.
Arriving in Deneysville – Zanda bought some land and Sune noticed that the oil spillage was getting worse. She decided to leave her bike at the Museum to be collected later. So, we had a pillion for the rest of the way – Tx Liesl & Nicolle for helping a lady out!

After having some fun, we had a cold one as chilly was becoming hot and then continued to Northdene for lunch (a very late lunch). We enjoyed the open roads and the beautiful scenery that only South Africa can give.
Everyone enjoyed the venue and so we took off to head home – as we were running late we knew that we were all to arrive home in the dark. We all enjoyed a wonderful day we made new friends and enjoyed the awesome ride and shared riding pleasures!
