The ride was scheduled for 07:30 - 08:00 and was well attended on a very cold morning. The necessary documentation was completed, and a detailed briefing was given on the ride as spelled out in the BMW riders’ manual.

Although the forming up on the road above BP garage gave some hiccups the rest of the ride was incident free. Both the ride leader and the sweep were surprised by the number of riders.
The first 60 km was on the N1 highway north and the group had to encounter two toll gates. This however did not seem to be a problem although ample time should be allowed for a big group of 43 members and 32 bikes. Two members reported as guest.
After the second tollgate at Hammanskraal the group turned right and immediately left on the tar road to Dinokeng Nature Reserve.

The road through Dinokeng Nature Reserve has a lot of bumps and the ride went slowly for the next 30 km. The riders must be reminded that they must take the entry ticket and return it at the end of the Reserve gate.
Wild life like Springbok, Impalas, Kudus and Zebras were seen on both sides of the fence.
After approximately 30 km the group stopped for a leg stretch at the Kalahari Supermarket for 15 minutes.
The ride continued through the Dinokeng Nature Reserve until the next T- junction where the group turned left towards the R101. The group then turned right on the R101 and continued for 30 km toward Bela Bela Waterfront where the group turned off to the De Dekke sign.

The manager cordoned off an area in front of the De Dekke Restaurant and all the bikes were safely parked.
The upper deck was prepared for the BMW riders and everybody enjoyed the meal. Many expressed their sincere gratitude for the ride and the venue.

Everybody then returned on their own way and no negative reports or incidents were received.
